A subdomain is part of a web address that is under the main domain, for example name.example.com. Technically, even in www.example.com the "www" element is a subdomain given that the fully qualified domain name is only "example.com". Every subdomain can have its own website and records and can even be hosted with a different provider if you need to use a feature that is not provided by your current provider. One example for using a subdomain is if you have a business site along with an online store under a subdomain where customers can buy your products. In addition, you can have a forum where they can talk about the products and by using subdomains rather than subfolders you are going to avoid any chance of all sites going down if you perform maintenance, or update one of the website scripts. Keeping the websites separated is less risky in case of a script security breach.

Subdomains in Cloud Website Hosting

Our cloud website hosting packages will permit you to create many subdomains for every domain name hosted in your account without any difficulty. As long as the main domain is added, it requires 2 clicks to set up a subdomain and choose what folder it will open (if different from the default one), set customized error pages, activate FrontPage Extensions, set a shared IP address or a dedicated one, and much more. All subdomains are going to be conveniently listed in alphabetical order under their main domain for quick access and control. By right-clicking on any one of them and by using fast access buttons you can view the error logs, visitor statistics or website files for that particular subdomain. We have not set a restriction for the total number of subdomains which you can create with any of our plans, so you can have as many as you wish.
